The board of the Indonesia Handball Association (ABTI) of DKI Jakarta for the 2026–2030 term was officially inaugurated at Balai Agung, Jakarta City Hall, on Wednesday (22/7). Led by Joshua Franklin J. Oktanatama Siahaan, the new lineup of administrators is committed to taking Jakarta's handball sport to a higher level of achievement, both nationally and internationally.

In his speech, Joshua emphasized the importance of solid synergy between the Provincial Committee (Pengprov) and the Executive Board (PB) of ABTI, as well as administrators at the administrative city and Thousand Islands Regency levels. This collaborative step is considered crucial for building a sustainable foundation for high-performance sports in the Jakarta region.

The immediate target and main focus of the new management is to retain the overall champion title at the upcoming 2028 National Sports Week (PON). A brilliant achievement was previously carved by the DKI Jakarta handball team at the 2024 Aceh-North Sumatra PON by sweeping both gold medals in the men's and women's categories. The challenge at the 2028 PON is expected to increase as the number of events expands to four.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by several key figures, including the Assistant for People's Welfare (Askesra) of DKI Jakarta Ali Maulana Hakim, Deputy Speaker of the DKI Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) Wibi Andrino, Head of the DKI Youth and Sports Department (Kadispora) Andri Yansyah, and the General Chairperson of the National Sports Committee (KONI) of DKI Jakarta, Prof. Hidayat Humaid. Ali Maulana Hakim expressed his appreciation for ABTI DKI Jakarta's commitment and hoped that handball achievements could support Jakarta's vision of becoming a Global City.

On the other hand, the General Chairperson of KONI DKI Jakarta, Prof. Hidayat Humaid, reaffirmed his commitment to continue providing full support for athlete development under this new management. He is optimistic that with hard work and team solidarity led by Joshua, the DKI Jakarta handball branch will continue to produce proud achievements.
