RSU Bunda Padang has made new history in the medical world of West Sumatra by introducing an advanced robotic surgery system. This innovation makes the hospital the first healthcare facility in the province to implement minimally invasive surgical technology for various complex medical procedures.
The inauguration of this service was carried out by PT Bundamedik Tbk (BMHS) on Friday (3/7), which was also attended by the Regional Secretary of West Sumatra Province, Arry Yuswandi. This strategic step was taken to reduce the public's dependence on medical services outside Java Island and to expand accessibility to cutting-edge health technology.
This robotic surgery system will serve needs in various specialties, ranging from gynecology, urology, uro-nephrology, to digestive surgery. Compared to conventional methods, this technology offers a much higher level of precision through minimal incisions, thereby minimizing physical trauma, reducing the risk of complications, and accelerating patient recovery time.
President Commissioner of PT Bundamedik Tbk, dr. Ivan Rizal Sini, explained that the presence of this service is supported by an ecosystem that the company has built since 2012, including clinical protocols and intensive training for specialist medical teams. To date, the RS Bunda Group network has recorded more than 950 successful procedures using robotic systems across Indonesia.
In addition to surgical technology, RSU Bunda Padang is also expanding the capacity of other health facilities, such as adding inpatient wards, NICU, and PICU. This effort is being made to keep pace with the surge in patient visits, which reaches 18,000 people every month, while also strengthening the referral healthcare infrastructure in the West Sumatra region.
