The Scout Movement through Saka Tarunabumi in the Patimpeng Branch (Kwarran), Bone Regency, is committed to being at the forefront of modernizing the agricultural sector. Through the adoption of the Modern Agriculture-Advance Agriculture System (PM-AAS) program, Scout members from the Penggalang to Pandega levels are encouraged to become education agents for their families and farming communities in their environment.

The Chairman of the Saka Tarunabumi Advisory Council (Mabisaka) of the Patimpeng Branch, Y.A. Yahya, directly inspected the implementation of PM-AAS technology on 100 hectares of land in Bontopadang and Biru Villages, Kahu District, on Sunday (5/7/2026). During the visit, he demonstrated the use of drones for precision fertilization and environmentally friendly rat pest control techniques using LPG gas-based fumigators.

The utilization of agricultural drone technology is considered crucial in overcoming labor constraints and operational cost efficiency. In addition to being able to distribute fertilizer and pesticides evenly in a short time, drones allow for more accurate dosage adjustments according to crop needs. Meanwhile, the fumigation method serves as a sustainable solution to suppress the rat pest population without relying on harmful chemicals that can damage the rice field ecosystem.

The PM-AAS program itself integrates six main pillars, ranging from precision cropping patterns, cultivation mechanization, to digital irrigation systems. The superiority of this system has been field-tested with significant productivity achievements, even reaching 13.43 tons per hectare at the PENAS XVII event in Gorontalo. As of July 2026, this program has covered 1,846 hectares of land across 34 provinces, with an ambitious government target of reaching 1 million hectares.

Y.A. Yahya emphasized that involving the younger generation through the Scouts is a strategic step to accelerate agricultural transformation. By equipping Scout members with technological insights, they are expected to transform the mindset of traditional farmers to be more innovative, which in turn will strengthen national food security in a sustainable manner.
