The trade and services sector in Son La Province showed stable performance throughout the first half of 2026. This performance is reflected in the region's ability to adequately meet production needs, business operations, and local community consumption.
Export activities became the main driving force with a cumulative value reaching US$128.1 million, or growing by 13.93% compared to the same period in the previous year. Key commodities dominating the export market include tea, coffee, processed cassava products, fruits, vegetables, as well as dairy and other processed agricultural products.
The local government consistently collaborates with the Ministry of Industry and Trade and cross-border authorities to update quality standards and technical market requirements. This proactive step is taken so that businesses and cooperatives can adjust their production and distribution strategies in line with the constantly changing dynamics of the global market.
On the other hand, digital transformation and the utilization of e-commerce continue to be encouraged through various training sessions for civil servants, entrepreneurs, and cooperative actors. This effort is balanced with intensive trade promotion connecting supply and demand sides, both at the local level and in major cities like Ho Chi Minh City.
To maintain a healthy economic ecosystem, the provincial government also tightened market supervision through anti-smuggling campaigns and crackdowns on illegal goods. During these first six months, a total of 436 cases of violations were inspected, with 357 cases successfully resolved. This operation successfully secured state revenues of 3 billion VND and destroyed illegal goods worth over 1.4 billion VND, ensuring protection for consumers and fair business competition.
