PEKANBARU — Thousands of Pekanbaru residents crowded the courtyard of the Riau Regional Police Headquarters (Mapolda) to watch the public viewing of the 2026 World Cup final on Sunday (19/7/2026) night. This event was organized as public entertainment while also serving as a means to strengthen ties between the police force and various elements of society.
The event was attended directly by the Chief of Riau Police, Inspector General Herry Heryawan, alongside Deputy Chief Brigadier General Hengki Haryadi and key officials from the Riau Regional Police. Also present among the crowd were political observer Rocky Gerung, college students, online motorcycle taxi driver communities, and citizens from various backgrounds who enthusiastically enjoyed the global football festival.
The festivities kicked off with a musical performance by Andien & Friends, followed by a prayer and the national anthem Indonesia Raya. The atmosphere grew warmer thanks to stand-up comedian Ariefka Herman, who delivered jokes containing critiques of the police institution, which was then humorously countered through a performance by Aipda Jimmy, eliciting laughter from the audience.
Before the match kicked off on the giant videotron screen, the audience listened to a video address from the President Director of TVRI, Tubagus Fiki Chikara Satari. The committee also distributed various attractive door prizes during the match intervals, with the grand prize of an electric motorcycle for one lucky citizen.
Until the final whistle blew, the entire public viewing event proceeded in a safe, orderly, and harmonious atmosphere. This initiative by the Riau Police received positive appreciation from citizens for successfully providing an inclusive and entertaining public interaction space.
