Under the leadership of Setya Novanto, the Golkar Party has officially set an ambitious target to reclaim its dominance of votes in West Java. This step is taken as a key strategy to restore the glory of the banyan tree-symbolized party at the national level.
In his speech during the inauguration of the Chairman of the West Java Golkar DPD, Dedi Mulyadi, in Sentul, Bogor, Novanto emphasized that West Java is a crucial region. According to him, electoral success in this province will have a significant impact and serve as the main barometer for the party's victory on the national political stage.
Novanto admitted that Golkar's performance had declined in the previous legislative election. Therefore, he encouraged the momentum of the inauguration of the 2016-2021 management to become a turning point for the party to strengthen internal consolidation. He is optimistic that this target can be realized through a recruitment program of one million new cadres who will become the party's spearhead on the ground.
As a sign of commitment, Novanto emphasized that he would directly visit various regions holding local elections (Pilkada). The presence of the party's elite at the grand inauguration ceremony demonstrates Golkar's serious commitment to facing the upcoming political agenda, both at the regency/city levels and the gubernatorial election in West Java.
