PT Indosat Tbk (ISAT) has demonstrated strong fundamental resilience amidst the dynamics of the telecommunications industry. Although first-quarter 2026 data recorded a year-on-year decline in prepaid subscribers from 94 million to 92 million, the telecommunications issuer maintains promising long-term business prospects.
Analysts view the drop in subscriber numbers not as a reflection of weakening market demand. Instead, this phenomenon is identified as a strategic move by the company to purify its customer base in order to create a higher-quality, higher-value user segment.
On the other hand, the company's postpaid service line remained stable at 2 million subscribers. This stability serves as an important pillar amidst the company's efforts to optimize data service monetization and overall operational efficiency.
Managing Director of Research at Samuel Sekuritas Indonesia, Harry Su, emphasized that data consumption growth and an increase in Average Revenue Per User (ARPU) will be the main drivers of Indosat's performance. In addition, asset monetization initiatives through the FiberCo entity are predicted to strengthen the company's financial position through the end of 2026.
