The largest graphic arts technology exhibition in Eastern Indonesia, Surabaya Printing Expo (SPE) 2026, officially opened at the Grand City Convention Center, Surabaya. The four-day event, running from July 8 to 11, 2026, serves as a crucial meeting point for printing business owners, graphic designers, and MSME owners to upgrade their production lines with the latest technology.
The General Chairman of the Indonesian Graphic Arts Association (PPGI), Ahmad Mughira Nurhani, emphasized that the national graphics industry is currently undergoing a vital transformation phase. Amid global economic dynamics, business operators are required to be more adaptive by adopting automation technology, energy efficiency, and smart packaging systems to remain competitive in an increasingly digital market.
The East Java Provincial Government is fully supporting this sector. The Head of the East Java Communication and Information Office, Sherlita Ratna Dewi Agustin, revealed that the printing industry plays a vital role in the regional economy, contributing IDR 27.64 trillion to the GRDP. The high internet penetration in East Java, reaching 83.1 percent, provides a strong foundation for the adoption of web-based and digital printing technologies showcased at the event.
Krista Exhibitions CEO, Daud D Salim, as the organizer, explained that this 19th SPE features over 150 exhibitors with a target of 15,000 visitors. In addition to showcasing various cutting-edge printing machines such as 3D printing and UV printing technologies, the organizers have also included educational programs. This includes workshops on utilizing artificial intelligence (AI) for merchandise design to branding strategies for MSMEs to penetrate broader markets.
Through this exhibition, graphic industry players are expected not only to modernize their machinery but also to diversify their products. The digital transformation through the adoption of technologies showcased at SPE 2026 is projected to be a key catalyst in strengthening the national creative industry ecosystem while opening up new strategic partnership opportunities for businesses in the printing sector.
