The Regional Secretary of South Kalimantan, H. M. Syarifuddin, was officially inaugurated as Chairman of the Indonesian Community Sports Committee (KORMI) for South Kalimantan Province for the 2026–2031 tenure. The inauguration ceremony, held in Banjarbaru on Saturday (11/7/2026) evening, was led directly by the General Chairman of National KORMI, Adil Hakim, based on National KORMI Decree Number 015/SK/KORMINAS/VII/2026.
In written remarks read by Acting Assistant for General Administration of the South Kalimantan Regional Secretariat, Adi Santoso, the Governor of South Kalimantan, H. Muhidin, emphasized the vital role of KORMI in popularizing sports as a lifestyle. The regional government hopes this new management will create innovative and inclusive programs that reach remote areas to cultivate healthy and high-quality human resources.
Responding to this responsibility, Syarifuddin championed a collaborative spirit themed "working together, embracing all." He affirmed that his team would immediately strengthen synergies with various agencies, including the Department of Tourism and the Department of Education and Culture, to integrate the community sports agenda with other development sectors.
A tangible step in this commitment was realized through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between KORMI South Kalimantan, the Department of Tourism, and the Department of Education and Culture. This cooperation aims to include various community sports events in the annual tourism Calendar of Events, which is expected to boost tourist arrivals while promoting sport tourism potential in Bumi Lambung Mangkurat.
Beyond focusing on a healthy living culture, the new leadership is also tasked with preparing for the 2027 National Recreational Sports Festival (FORNAS) in Palu. Through cross-sector synergy, KORMI South Kalimantan is optimistic about increasing public participation and achieving greater success on the national stage.
