A joint force consisting of the Pekanbaru City Civil Police Unit (Satpol PP), Commission I of the DPRD, and military-police (TNI-Polri) personnel conducted an unannounced inspection (sidak) at several nightlife venues in the early hours of Thursday (9/7/2026). This step was taken as part of monitoring nightlife business operations to ensure they remain within the legal frameworks applicable in the local area.
During the operation, the joint team visited three primary locations, namely Gen Z Club Pekanbaru, Empire 80 Lounge and KTV, and HW Live House. Head of the Pekanbaru City Satpol PP, Desheriyanto, revealed that the inspection aimed to validate operational permits while maintaining public order so as not to disturb nearby residents.
Desheriyanto emphasized that the city government does not prohibit business owners from operating their businesses, provided they can maintain a conducive environment. He specifically issued a stern warning to all nightlife venue managers not to allow any room for illegal activities, including drug trafficking, within their business premises.
Echoing these sentiments, Chairman of Commission I of the Pekanbaru DPRD, Robin Eduar, added that this activity is a concrete implementation of the legislative oversight function. His side urged nightlife management to be proactive in carrying out internal monitoring to prevent legal violations that could result in the permanent revocation of business licenses.
