The excitement of the 9th Mount Slamet Festival (FGS) reached a crucial phase on its second day, Saturday (4/7/2026). The community of Serang Village, Karangreja District, Purbalingga, reaffirmed their commitment to preserving tradition through the Tuk Sikopyah water cultural carnival, involving 99 bamboo containers (lodhong) and one clay pitcher (kendi pratolo).
This traditional procession began with the sacred drawing of water by customary leaders at Tuk Sikopyah, located in Kaliurip Hamlet. The water from the spring is believed by the local community to be the primary symbol of prosperity and the sustainability of the ecosystem on the slopes of Mount Slamet.
Once drawn, the water was poured into 99 traditional bamboo containers and paraded by local youths toward the main stage. Upon arriving at the ceremonial site, a series of joint prayers was held as an expression of gratitude for the abundant blessings of nature.
The highlight of this event was the distribution of water from the kendi pratolo to local residents and festival visitors. This consistently performed annual ritual is hoped to further strengthen cultural bonds and raise public awareness of the importance of maintaining ecological balance in the Mount Slamet region.
