PT Pupuk Indonesia (Persero) recorded a significant leap in financial performance throughout the first semester of 2026. The state-owned fertilizer producer successfully posted a net profit of IDR 8.51 trillion, surging by up to 253 percent compared to the achievement in the same period the previous year.
This positive growth was also reflected in the company's revenue line, which reached IDR 59.67 trillion, growing 51 percent year-on-year. Meanwhile, the company's earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) soared 140 percent to IDR 14.28 trillion, driven by increased production volumes and consistent operational cost efficiencies.
President Director of Pupuk Indonesia, Rahmad Pribadi, explained that this stellar achievement was the result of a comprehensive business transformation and the strengthening of corporate governance in line with the Danantara Indonesia agenda. The implementation of cost discipline and operational efficiency served as key strategies in maintaining corporate competitiveness amid global commodity price fluctuations.
Rahmad expressed optimism that this strengthened financial foundation will guarantee sustainable business growth. According to him, healthy performance not only positively impacts the internal corporate environment but also reinforces the company's tangible contribution to supporting long-term national food security.
As an anticipatory measure against global economic dynamics, Pupuk Indonesia is diversifying its revenue by expanding non-subsidized markets and non-fertilizer products. The company is also committed to revitalizing seven plants over the next five years and developing new projects such as clean methanol and ammonia businesses to optimize the portfolio of state assets.
The impact of this transformation is claimed to be felt directly by the national agricultural sector. As of mid-July 2026, Pupuk Indonesia has distributed 5.13 million tons of subsidized fertilizer, equivalent to 52 percent of the government's total allocation of 9.8 million tons this year. This distribution speed is supported by digitalization through the i-Pubers system to facilitate fertilizer redemption by farmers.
