The road section on the slope of Mount Moriala, Central Halmahera Regency, was reported to be slippery due to an oil spill on Thursday (30/7/2026). This incident was triggered by the accident of a cooking oil transport truck that overturned on the hilly route.

The oil spill, which spread across the asphalt surface, poses a high risk to traffic safety. Motorcyclists and car drivers intending to pass through the Mount Moriala route are strongly advised to increase vigilance, reduce vehicle speed, and avoid sudden maneuvers or braking.

To date, there has been no official statement from the police regarding the chronology or the main cause of the truck accident. Residents and road users hope that the relevant authorities will immediately clean the road surface to minimize the potential for fatal accidents in the high-risk area.
