A spirit of togetherness and sportsmanship enveloped the Purba Field, Lower Sekurau Hamlet, Sekerat Village, Bengalon District, when the Regent of East Kutai, Ardiansyah Sulaiman, officially opened the 2nd Sekurau Cooperative Cup Tournament on Sunday (12/7/2026). This event features football as well as men's and women's volleyball matches involving teams from various villages in East Kutai Regency.

Committee Chairman, Adisran, explained that this tournament is designed as a platform for nurturing sports talents in the community. In addition to providing a healthy competition venue, the event also aims to build discipline and cooperation while scouting potential athletic talents expected to bring pride to the region on a wider stage.

Sekerat Village Head, Sunan Dhika, expressed his appreciation to all parties that worked together. In his view, sports are an effective instrument to strengthen community ties. The village government is also committed to continuously supporting similar activities to foster a healthy and competitive younger generation.

In his address, Regent Ardiansyah Sulaiman advised all athletes and supporters to use this tournament as a momentum to strengthen brotherhood, rather than just a matter of winning or losing. He specifically emphasized the importance of referee professionalism and the role of supporters in maintaining order on the field.

This tournament is fully supported by the Maju Sejahtera Cooperative along with sponsors and local community elements. Through this event, which offers various awards and development funds, it is hoped that the synergy between the government and the community in developing superior human resources through the sports sector can continue sustainably.
