Tesla is further strengthening its position in the autonomous vehicle industry through thorough preparations to test the Cybercab at the Gigafactory facility in Texas. The fleet, consisting of more than 100 bronze-colored vehicles, is scheduled to serve employee shuttle trips as a crucial phase before the official launch to the public market.

Unlike the Model Y fleet, which is currently still equipped with manual control systems, the Cybercab comes with a futuristic design that completely eliminates the steering wheel and brake pedals. This innovative step is supported by significant progress in regulatory aspects, where the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) in the United States has signaled positive signs regarding the easing of technical requirements for vehicles designed without human intervention.

Eric, the lead engineer of the Cybercab project, reported positive results after conducting dozens of test trips. Although the hardware has been precisely installed, Tesla emphasizes that software refinement is currently the main focus. Optimizing the automated steering system algorithms is crucial to ensuring the safety of both passengers and pedestrians in various complex traffic scenarios.

Currently, hundreds of Cybercab units are awaiting a comprehensive software update to be ready for autonomous operation. The success of this initiative depends not only on the sophistication of sensor technology, but also on Tesla's ability to convince global regulators that driverless vehicles now meet the highest safety standards for public use.
