SAMARINDA - The Samarinda City Government continues its commitment to improving healthcare services for all elements of society without exception, including correctional inmates. This commitment is realized through the launch of the Free Health Check (CKG) and Tuberculosis (TB) screening program at the Class I Samarinda Detention Center (Rutan) by the Deputy Mayor of Samarinda.
This mass health screening activity was organized as a preventive measure to anticipate the spread of infectious diseases within the detention center environment, which has a fairly high density of occupancy. The Deputy Mayor emphasized that inmates still have equal rights to access and receive decent healthcare services during their rehabilitation period.
Through synergy between the Samarinda City Health Office and the Class I Samarinda Detention Center, inmates are facilitated to undergo early detection of non-communicable diseases as well as clinical lung examinations. This tactical step is expected to suppress the rate of TB transmission early on and create a healthier, cleaner, and more conducive detention center environment.
