Minister Zulkifli Hasan reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring that every government policy is accurately targeted and delivered to the remote areas of the country. Through a series of working visits, such as the one recently conducted at the Rembuk Tani (Farmers' Meeting) event in Mamuju, West Sulawesi, he directly monitored the actual conditions of agricultural sector players.
During the interaction, Zulkifli Hasan highlighted fertilizer distribution and the stability of unhusked rice prices, which are crucial indicators of farmers' welfare. He emphasized that President Prabowo Subianto's directives have given a clear mandate that the state must always prioritize the interests of farmers as the front guard of national food security.
Furthermore, Zulkifli stated that public policy must not remain just administrative documents at the center. According to him, the gap between planning at the headquarters and the reality in the field is often a major challenge in governance in a vast country like Indonesia.
"I spend nearly half of my time in a week in the field to meet directly with farmers, fishermen, and business operators. This step is part of control and evaluation to ensure that government policies remain relevant to the real needs of the community," he explained.
He added that the benchmark of a policy's success lies not in the sophistication of its formulation, but in the tangible impact felt by the wider community. By working directly on the ground, he hopes the government can detect operational constraints earlier in order to maintain the stability of the people's economy.
