Jakarta — The Alumni Forum of the Student Executive Board and Student Senate (FABEM-SM) together with the Critical Civil Society for Prabowo-Gibran Guardians (Masker Pragi) issued a collective call to maintain national unity. This step was taken in response to the dynamic national economic situation and global geopolitical turmoil which are deemed to require a wise attitude from all elements of society.
National Coordinator of Masker Pragi and Deputy General Chairman of DPP FABEM-SM, Tody Ardiansyah Prabu, emphasized that Indonesia's current economic condition remains under government control. Although the rupiah exchange rate had experienced pressure, breaking through Rp18,000 per US dollar, Tody assured that coordination between the government and Bank Indonesia is running effectively in maintaining macroeconomic stability.
Regarding the widespread student protests, Tody reminded that expressing aspirations is an essential element in a democracy that must be respected. However, he emphasized that the movement should be carried out peacefully and constructively. He advised students to prioritize constructive critical reasoning to avoid potential unwanted divisions amidst an uncertain global situation.
Responding to the growing narrative about an economic crisis, Tody asserted that Indonesia is currently focusing on strategic agendas such as strengthening food security, energy independence, and economic reform. He dismissed negative assumptions regarding national bankruptcy, emphasizing that the government is striving to strengthen economic sovereignty to face regional competition.
Latest data shows new optimism for the domestic economy, where the rupiah recorded an appreciation to the level of Rp17,860 per US dollar as of mid-June 2026. This recovery was triggered by a number of strategic policies, including adjustments to the BI Rate, inflows of foreign capital, and the successful issuance of international bonds, which collectively prove the resilience of the Indonesian economy against global market pressures.
