The Vovinam sports competition has officially opened as part of the 10th Can Tho City Sports Festival 2026. The enthusiasm of the participants was clearly visible when athletes from the host, Cluster 3 - Phong Dien Commune, presented a stunning martial arts demonstration shortly after the opening ceremony.
This prestigious tournament is attended by more than 500 coaches and athletes divided into 15 clusters from various regions, including representatives from Cai Rang, Binh Thuy, and O Mon. The athletes will compete fiercely for 40 sets of medals, consisting of 20 form events and 20 sparring events for both men's and women's categories.
Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Phong Dien Commune, Tran Thien Triet, in his speech emphasized that this tournament serves as a strategic instrument to scout regional talent. Through this event, coaches are expected to identify the best talents who will later be trained more intensively to represent the region in the upcoming 10th National Sports Festival.
The organizing committee specifically emphasized the importance of upholding the values of sportsmanship, honesty, and solidarity during the competition. In addition, referees were instructed to preside over the matches objectively and accurately to ensure the tournament runs fairly and professionally.
