The planned meeting between Ruben Onsu and Sarwendah, originally scheduled for July 11, 2026, has now been confirmed canceled. News of this cancellation was confirmed directly by Ruben's legal counsel, Minola Sebayang, who stated that Sarwendah's side decided to abruptly call off the plan.
This cancellation decision came shortly after Ruben Onsu officially filed a child custody lawsuit at the South Jakarta District Court on June 30, 2026. According to Sarwendah's side through her legal attorney, they felt it wiser if all discussions regarding their domestic conflict were conducted officially through court mediation steps.
Minola explained that initially, Sarwendah's side was the one who initiated the meeting. However, seeing that the situation has escalated to legal proceedings, Ruben Onsu's side decided to respect the unilateral cancellation without forcing the matter or raising further objections.
On the other hand, Minola dismissed accusations stating that the legal step taken by Ruben was hasty. He emphasized that before this matter became public consumption, both parties had engaged in closed discussions through their respective legal representatives, but failed to reach a satisfactory agreement.
The inability of both parties to reach an agreement in private, coupled with the expanding narrative on social media, became strong reasons for Ruben Onsu to bring this matter to court to achieve legal certainty.
