Three students from the Faculty of Dental Medicine (FKG) at Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) have achieved a proud national milestone. The team, consisting of Helena Najwa Syakila Lukmana, Natasha Raihan, and Zaki Septiyono Saputra, successfully won 1st Place in the Educational Video category at the 2026 Padjadjaran Dentistry Scientific Meeting (PDSM), organized by BEM KEMA FKG Universitas Padjadjaran on Saturday (4/7/2026).
Their flagship work, titled 'Devil VS Angel: Dental Health Hanging by a Thread', stood out due to its ability to translate complex scientific journal data into a persuasive short drama format. The four-minute video highlights the story of a culinary content creator who frequently neglects oral health due to a lifestyle of excessive sweet food consumption.
Helena Najwa, as the team leader, explained that the main challenge in this competition was balancing visual aesthetic aspects with the accuracy of medical content. They had to ensure that every message delivered was not only cinematically engaging but also easily understood by the general public as the primary educational target.
The chosen title is also rich in symbolism. Zaki Septiyono explained that the metaphor of 'Devil VS Angel' represents the conflict between bad and good habits that determine the fate of a person's dental health. Meanwhile, the narrative of 'Dental Health Hanging by a Thread' was brought up to depict the urgency of the main character's condition, which experienced a decline in health due to a neglectful lifestyle.
Natasha Raihan emphasized that the ultimate goal of this work is to encourage the public to make consistent, small behavioral changes, such as reducing sugar consumption and cleaning teeth regularly. These students hope that this achievement can spark the enthusiasm of other peers to not just chase victory, but to focus more on the creative process that delivers a real impact on public health at large.
