The mysterious disappearance of two teenagers from Krinjing Hamlet, Krinjing Village, Watumalang District, Wonosobo Regency, has ended in tragedy. Arifin Nurohmat (18) and Yufaidin (15) were found dead at the bottom of a ravine approximately 284 meters deep in the Curug Tiga area of Mount Bismo on Sunday (12/7/2026).

This tragic discovery concluded an intensive search operation lasting nearly two weeks and involving more than 200 joint personnel. SAR teams, the TNI, Polri, BPBD, nature enthusiast volunteers, and local residents joined forces to comb through the rugged mountain terrain to locate the two victims.

The timeline began on Tuesday afternoon (30/6/2026) when the two teenagers left home without saying goodbye to their families. Head of Watumalang District, Arief Hardiyanto, revealed that several residents had seen them walking toward the slopes of Mount Bismo before all contact was lost.

As they failed to return by nightfall, the families, assisted by residents, immediately launched a search effort of their own. However, a lack of clues forced them to report the incident to authorities on Thursday (2/7/2026), which was then followed by the opening of an official search operation by Basarnas.

Coordinator of the Wonosobo SAR Post, Dani Fitra Maulana, stated that the vast search area and scarcity of tracks left by the victims were the main obstacles. The joint team even deployed thermal drone technology (UAV) and tracking dogs (K9) to sweep major climbing routes such as Silandak, Sikunang, and Deroduwur.

After the standard seven-day operation was extended for three days, a breakthrough was finally achieved by the Wanadri Bandung team alongside local residents. Both were found lifeless at the bottom of the Sidongkal Block ravine, located close to one another.

The evacuation process was dramatic, lasting approximately seven hours, as rescue teams had to use specialized vertical rescue equipment to hoist the bodies from the extremely steep ravine.

Medical examination results at Setjonegoro Wonosobo Regional Hospital confirmed no indications of violence on the victims' bodies. Death is strongly suspected to have resulted from severe impact after slipping into the ravine, with fatal injuries including bone fractures and head trauma.
