The Mount Ciremai National Park (TNGC) area, specifically in the Cirendang Block, Padabeunghar Village, Pasawahan District, Kuningan Regency, was once again hit by a forest and land fire (karhutla) on Tuesday (21/7/2026). The blaze, which had spread, was finally brought under control thanks to the rapid response and tactical cooperation of the joint team on the ground.
The incident was first detected at around 12:30 PM WIB after the Padabeunghar Village Babinsa (Village Supervising Officer), Sergeant Nendi, received reports from local residents who spotted plumes of smoke. Following up on this emergency information, personnel from Babinsa Koramil 1514/Pancalang immediately coordinated with village officials, TNGC officers, the Fire Care Community (MPA), and local residents to conduct rapid extinguishing efforts.
Relying on makeshift equipment, the team on the ground implemented firebreak techniques to cut off the spread of the fire, preventing it from reaching deeper forest areas or nearby residential zones. Nevertheless, extreme hot weather accompanied by strong winds temporarily hampered containment efforts, allowing the fire to scorch approximately 30 hectares of land dominated by shrubs and dry grass.
The fire is strongly suspected to have been triggered by the natural friction of dry tree branches caused by high temperatures during the dry season. Fortunately, there were no casualties in this incident, and the fire was completely extinguished by around 4:00 PM WIB. Given that the Cirendang Block is a yearly high-risk area, authorities have urged local residents to remain vigilant and immediately report any signs of new fires.
