The Regional Public Plantation Company (PDP) Kahyangan Jember is planning a major transformation of the Gunung Pasang area in Panti District into a leading edu-tourism destination. This step is being taken to optimize the potential of the mountain's natural beauty while introducing the dynamics of the plantation sector to the wider public.
Nyoman Aribowo, Director of Production, Marketing, and Development at PDP Kahyangan, explained that the concept goes beyond ordinary nature tourism. Visitors will be directly involved in daily plantation activities, such as harvesting coffee in season, practicing rubber tapping techniques, and reviewing the commodity processing flow into finished products.
This development does not stand alone; rather, it integrates various existing exotic tourist spots in the area. Popular destinations such as Boma River, Rimba Camp, and Tancak Waterfall will be managed within a unified tourism ecosystem to provide a more comprehensive experience for tourists.
More than just a holiday spot, this initiative is designed as an interactive learning medium for students, academics, and the general public. Management hopes that this area will not only become a new attraction boosting Jember's tourism sector, but also drive the local economy through empowerment in the surrounding communities.
