The Ministry of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora) now officially holds the mandate as the supervising authority for the Standard Business Classification of Indonesia (KBLI) in the sports sector. This strategic move was taken by the government to strengthen the governance of the national sports industry while providing more solid legal certainty for business actors in the sector.
Through this new mandate, Kemenpora will manage Risk-Based Business Licensing Services (PBBR) integrated directly with the national platform, the Online Single Submission Risk Based Approach (OSS-RBA). This system transition aims to make administrative processes for businesses faster, more accountable, and transparent.
Acting Deputy for Sports Industry Development at Kemenpora, Andry Manuella Ginting, stated that his party is finalizing various preparations, ranging from technical regulations to enhancing human resource competency. Kemenpora targets this digitized licensing system to be fully operational by mid-2026.
A total of nine business groups are now under the supervision of Kemenpora, including the management of stadiums, racetracks, sports arenas, golf courses, as well as martial arts and traditional sports facilities. With this classification, the government hopes to provide more effective guidance and supervision according to the risk level of each business sector.
More than just a licensing instrument, this policy is expected to spur investment interest in the sports industry, which has long been considered to have huge economic potential. Kemenpora is optimistic that regulatory certainty will drive job growth, strengthen the creative economy ecosystem, and improve the quality of service standards for the general public.
