On the commemoration of the 7th Public Health Day, the Deputy Minister of Health, Prof. Dr. Tran Van Thuan, issued a crucial appeal to the public to start prioritizing health through simple yet consistent lifestyle changes. According to him, excellent health is not the result of monumental actions, but rather the accumulation of small daily habits.

Prof. Thuan advised the public to start by adding one portion of vegetables to their daily menu and spending at least 15 minutes walking. Other concrete steps include reducing sugar, salt, and oil intake, as well as engaging in more physical interaction rather than relying on gadgets. He emphasized that regular health check-ups must become a preventive culture, not just a response when the body already experiences medical complaints.

Furthermore, the role of parents in shaping children's lifestyles is vital. Prof. Thuan mentioned that children tend to imitate adult behavior. Therefore, building families that support each other in maintaining a balanced diet and exercising regularly is the most sustainable foundation for public health at large.

Echoing this sentiment, the Director of the Nutritional Counseling Center, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Trong Hung, added that proper nutrition is the most efficient and affordable medical intervention to reduce the rate of non-communicable diseases. Reducing the consumption of salt, sugar, and saturated fat has proven effective in lowering the risk of hypertension, diabetes, and cardiovascular diseases. By adjusting their diet and increasing fiber intake, patients can even significantly improve early-stage metabolic disorders.

The health sector continues to optimize early prevention services and remote consultation to support the public. The government also hopes that every citizen can take responsibility for their own health by implementing a more disciplined lifestyle, in order to realize a fitter and longer-lived generation.
