The Ternate City Government continues to strengthen the social safety net system by expanding the coverage of BPJS Ketenagakerjaan (Jamsostek) to the sports sector. This strategic effort was explained directly by the Mayor of Ternate, Dr. H. M. Tauhid Soleman, during an online interview session for the 2026 Jamsostek Award assessment for the North Maluku Province on Wednesday (22/7/2026).

In his presentation at the Bappelitbangda office, Tauhid revealed that the employment social security coverage rate in his region is showing a highly significant positive trend. Currently, the protection rate has reached 73.45 percent, covering formal sector workers, contract employees, neighborhood-level (RT/RW) apparatus, religious figures, and vulnerable worker groups such as fishermen, farmers, motorcycle taxi drivers, and sanitation workers.

The latest breakthrough from the Ternate City Government is providing protection for sports personnel. This insurance program targets athletes competing in the Tobelo Provincial Sports Week (Porprov) and the Morotai Regional Student Sports Week (Popda), as well as local football coaches who are vulnerable to physical injury risks during matches.

These sports figures are registered under the Work Accident Insurance (JKK) and Death Insurance (JKM) programs. This step was taken as a form of concrete appreciation from the local government for their dedication in fighting to bring honor to the name of Ternate City at the regional level.

This commitment is funded through a transparent and well-targeted APBD (Regional Budget) allocation, in line with the "Ternate Andalan Jilid II" development vision under the leadership of Tauhid Soleman and Nasri Abubakar to realize an independent and equitable society.
