The Central National Sports Committee of Indonesia (KONI) officially launched a book titled “Sports Intelligence” during a book review event held at the Auditorium of the Faculty of Sports and Health Sciences (FIKK), State University of Surabaya (UNESA), on Tuesday (7/7/2026). This initiative marks a strategic step to strengthen the national sports ecosystem in the digital era.
General Chairman of Central KONI, Marciano Norman, explained that this sports intelligence concept has been pioneered since 2019. According to him, modern sports no longer rely solely on physical strength, but have transformed into a battle of data. This book, which spans over 500 pages, is designed as a guide to integrate *sports science* with technological innovations such as artificial intelligence (*AI*) and *big data* to achieve the Golden Indonesia target.
The author team led by Eman Sungkowo emphasized that this book presents 12 comprehensive chapters on the strategic use of information to analyze opponents' strengths and weaknesses. In addition, the book highlights the importance of synergy between the government, universities, and sports governing bodies in managing accurate sports databases from the central to regional levels.
UNESA, represented by Vice Rector IV Prof. Dr. Dwi Cahyo Kartiko, welcomed the presence of this literature. He expressed hope that the work would serve as a main reference for academics and decision-makers in the sports sector. The event also featured the strengthening of a memorandum of understanding between Central KONI and UNESA, as well as a joint declaration of commitment to implement *Sports Intelligence* to enhance Indonesian athletes' performance.
