The National Sports Committee of Indonesia (KONI) Pusat has officially undertaken a major transformation in the national sports development system through the launch of a book titled 'Sports Intelligence'. This initiative marks a paradigm shift in Indonesia's competitive sports, which no longer rely solely on physical superiority, but instead prioritize the integration of data and cutting-edge technology.

The launch and book review event, which took place at the Auditorium of the Faculty of Sports Science and Health (FIKK) of Surabaya State University (UNESA) on Tuesday (7/7/2026), marked a new milestone. General Chair of Central KONI, Marciano Norman, emphasized that the presence of the book, which spans over 500 pages, is a strategic blueprint to enable Indonesian athletes to compete on the global stage.

Marciano emphasized that sports competition in the modern era is a battle of strategic intelligence. According to him, countries capable of mastering data analysis, the use of artificial intelligence (AI), and information management stand a much greater chance of victory. This concept combines traditional coaching science with the utilization of Big Data to map the strengths and weaknesses of opponents with precision.

This idea stems from Marciano's vision since 2019, which viewed the media as a crucial part of the sports intelligence network. From this concept, Central KONI established a dedicated Sports Intelligence Division to systematically manage information. The book, compiled by a team of experts led by Eman Sungkowo, delves into 12 chapters regarding the implementation of intelligence systems within the athlete development ecosystem.

The lead author, Eman Sungkowo, added that the implementation of Sports Intelligence is expected to serve as a guide for coaches and athletes to make accurate, data-driven decisions. With this step, KONI is committed to adopting an evidence-based approach to create a sustainable revolution for the future progress of Indonesian sports achievements.
