The Regional Leadership of the Muhammadiyah Student Association (PW IPM) of the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY) organized a social action offering free health checks for students. Initiated by the Health Institution of PW IPM DIY, the event took place at the Phytagoras Building, Taman Pintar Yogyakarta, on Saturday (July 25, 2026), as part of the commemorations for the 65th anniversary of IPM.

This preventive step was taken in response to concerns within the medical sector regarding the rising trend of non-communicable diseases affecting youth. Referring to data from the Ministry of Health, cases of type 2 diabetes, which were once synonymous with adults, are now increasingly found in teenagers and even middle school-aged children.

The Head of the Health Institution of PW IPM DIY, Pandorawan Majda, explained that the services included checking vital signs, measuring blood pressure, and screening Random Blood Sugar (RBS). Additionally, participants received anthropometric measurements such as height, weight, and waist circumference, as well as free consultations on dental and oral health.

Through this early detection, it is hoped that students will better understand their physical condition and anticipate the risks of cardiovascular diseases and metabolic disorders in the long term. The General Chairman of PW IPM DIY, Syauqi Marsa Taqiyuddin, appreciated the initiative and expressed hope that the program would not stop at temporary checks, but rather be followed by the collection of an integrated student health database.

Marking this 65th anniversary, IPM DIY is committed to continuing to integrate humanitarian values and dakwah (outreach) through concrete actions in the health sector. This step is expected to foster a holistically healthy younger generation that consistently practices clean and healthy lifestyles.
