Coordinating Minister for Community Empowerment (Menko PM), Muhaimin Iskandar, highlighted the heavy cost burden of medical treatments under the National Health Insurance (JKN) scheme. In his statement, he revealed that the cost for a single hemodialysis (dialysis) procedure for a BPJS Kesehatan patient reaches IDR 700,000.
Muhaimin explained that this figure reflects the substantial subsidy provided within the social security system. Mathematically, the cost of one medical treatment session is equivalent to the accumulated monthly contributions of 15 BPJS Kesehatan participants.
Furthermore, he emphasized that the mechanism of mutual cooperation serves as the primary foundation for the sustainability of this program. Through this system, patients requiring routine and high-cost medical procedures do not have to bear the full financial burden alone, but are instead assisted by the contributions of all healthy participants.
This statement was delivered as a reflection on the importance of maintaining balance within the healthcare ecosystem. With the principle of mutual assistance, access to critical healthcare services such as dialysis remains reachable for people in need across all corners of Indonesia.
