The national automotive sector showed encouraging signs of recovery throughout June 2026. Latest data from the Indonesian Motorcycle Industry Association (AISI) recorded motorcycle distributions to the domestic market reaching 515,136 units, a surge marking the revival of market demand after a slight correction in May.
The increase reached 35,748 units or approximately 7.5 percent compared to distribution figures in May 2026, which stood at 479,388 units. This monthly growth serves as a positive indicator for consumer purchasing power amidst economic fluctuations in the first half of this year.
Accumulatively, total motorcycle distribution for the period from January to June 2026 reached 3,129,587 units. This figure also surpassed the achievement of the same period last year, which recorded 3,104,629 units. Thus, the industry posted a slight increase of around 0.8 percent year-on-year (YoY).
On the other hand, the export performance of Completely Built Up (CBU) vehicles showed a different trend. In June 2026, export volume was recorded at 50,067 units, a slight decrease compared to May 2026 exports, which stood at 54,759 units.
