Perumda Air Minum Kota Padang has announced a temporary operational shutdown of the Gunung Pangilun Water Treatment Plant (WTP). This step is scheduled to begin on Friday, July 10, 2026, at 20:00 WIB until the work is fully completed.
President Director of Perumda Air Minum Kota Padang, Hendra Pebrizal, stated that this agenda is part of routine maintenance procedures and reservoir flushing. This cleaning process is crucial to eliminate mud deposits and inhibit moss growth, thereby ensuring that the quality and continuity of clean water service for customers remain optimally maintained.
The temporary operational shutdown is estimated to affect around 50,000 customers spread across the central area of Padang City. Affected areas include Ulak Karang, Kampung Lapai, Kampung Olo, Tabing Bandar Gadang, Gurun Lawas, Lolong Belanti, Gunung Pangilun, Flamboyan Baru, Rimbo Kaluang, Alai Parak Kopi, Ampang, Lubuk Lintah, Purus, Ujung Gurun, Jati, Anduring, Padang Pasir, and Kampung Jao.
Responding to this situation, management urges customers in affected areas to immediately store clean water before the supply is disrupted. Storing water in tanks or independent containers is deemed essential so that daily needs can still be met during the maintenance work.
Perumda Air Minum aims to complete the maintenance process overnight, so that clean water distribution is expected to return to normal on Saturday morning.
