Perum Perhutani Forest Management Unit (KPH) North Kedu continues to intensify collaboration with hiking tourism managers. This strategic step was implemented through social communication with the Bimawari Basecamp management on the Mount Sumbing hiking route via Dukuhseman, Temanggung, to ensure the integrity of the forest area remains preserved.
The main focus of this synergy includes strengthening the monitoring of hiker traffic, waste management, and mitigating the risk of forest and land fires (karhutla). Given the arrival of the dry season, which increases vulnerability, both parties are committed to prioritizing ecosystem safety.
Head of the Temanggung Forest Management Sub-Unit (BKPH), Youdiyanto, emphasized that the active role of basecamp managers is vital in creating a safe and sustainable hiking environment. He encouraged managers to tighten data collection and education for every hiker regarding the importance of bringing their trash back down and remaining vigilant against fire threats.
On the other hand, Bimawari Basecamp manager Yoyok welcomed Perhutani's ongoing support. According to him, this guidance motivates his team to raise service standards for hikers while ensuring the hiking trail remains a clean and safe natural tourist destination for the community.
Through established coordination, it is hoped that every individual climbing Mount Sumbing will take greater responsibility for environmental conservation. This multi-stakeholder synergy is expected to serve as a model for hiking tourism management that not only prioritizes economic aspects but also the permanent sustainability of forest functions.
