JAKARTA – Forum Betawi Rempug (FBR) celebrated its 25th anniversary or Silver Jubilee by holding challenging symbolic actions. The community organization successfully raised their grand flag in two extreme locations simultaneously: the summit of Mount Salak II, West Java, and the seabed of the Thousand Islands region, Jakarta.
The flag-raising action in the mountainous region was carried out through a fast-hiking or "tektok" method that took a 10-hour round trip. Starting from the gathering point at Ajisaka Basecamp, the FBR team collaborated with a community of hikers from the Darul Ulum Islamic Boarding School. Although the terrain of Mount Salak II is known to be extreme and often shrouded in thick fog, the group managed to reach the summit, which is popularly dubbed the "Last King" among hikers.
Meanwhile, the underwater expedition was conducted in the waters of the Thousand Islands. Led by legendary climber Pakde Latif along with the FBRTv Official team, this diving action carried the message that FBR's existence and care encompass all elements of nature, from land to sea. This activity also serves as a concrete manifestation of the campaign to preserve Indonesia's marine ecosystem.
Through this silver jubilee momentum, FBR reaffirmed its commitment to continuing to safeguard the values of togetherness and social harmony. Carrying the theme "Nurturing Roots, Weaving the Future", the organization hopes to remain consistent in preserving the heritage of Betawi cultural traditions, following the guidance of Islamic scholars, and contributing actively amid the dynamics of changing times.
