The Sleman Regency Government has officially inaugurated the management of the Indonesian Community Sports Committee (KORMI) at the kapanewon (district) level throughout Sleman Regency. The inauguration ceremony, which took place at the Pendopo of the Sleman Regent's Official Residence on Wednesday (15/7/2026), is expected to drive a culture of healthy living down to the village level.

Deputy Regent of Sleman, Danang Maharsa, emphasized that recreational sports play a strategic role that goes beyond mere physical fitness. According to him, sports activities within the community are important instruments for fostering togetherness, building strong character, and improving the overall quality of life.

Danang also urged all newly inaugurated members of the kapanewon KORMI management to immediately formulate innovative and inclusive recreational sports programs. Solid synergy between the local government, KORMI, sports communities, and the general public is considered the key to creating healthy and productive Sleman citizens.

Echoing this sentiment, the Chairman of Sleman Regency KORMI, Suparman, explained that the inauguration of the administrators at the kapanewon level aims to strengthen the organizational structure evenly. With a local management in place, recreational sports programs can be designed more specifically according to the potential and characteristics of each region.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by the Sleman Forkopimda (Regional Leadership Coordination Forum), the regency KORMI board, and representatives from all kapanewons. Through this momentum, the Sleman Regency Government is optimistic that promoting recreational sports can become a main pillar in creating a physically and mentally healthy society.
