The Head of the National Police Medical and Health Center (Kapusdokkes), Inspector General of Police Asep Hendradiana, officially inaugurated the dr. Yusuf Wibandoko Bhayangkara Hospital located in Banjarbaru, South Kalimantan, on Friday (7/10/2026). The presence of this new health facility is a strategic step by the National Police (Polri) institution to expand access to medical services for internal police personnel as well as the wider public in the region.
In his address, Inspector General of Police Asep Hendradiana emphasized that the hospital, which stands grandly as a five-story building with a 100-bed capacity, is designed to provide holistic healthcare services. The spectrum of services provided includes promotive, preventive, curative, and rehabilitative efforts, supported by competent specialist doctors.
In addition to functioning as a public healthcare center, this hospital also carries out a technical mission in supporting police tasks, particularly in forensic medicine. These services include performing medico-legal examinations (visum) for living and deceased victims, as well as medical support for scientific police investigations. The facility also serves BPJS Kesehatan (National Health Insurance) participants as part of its commitment to service inclusiveness.
As an initial step, this hospital operates as a Type D facility. However, management has drawn up strategic development plans to increase facility capacity, medical equipment, and the quality of human resources so that it can later be upgraded to a Type C hospital.
Furthermore, dr. Yusuf Wibandoko Bhayangkara Hospital is projected not merely to be a medical service provider, but also to function as a clinical education vehicle for students of health higher education institutions in South Kalimantan. The presence of this hospital is expected to strengthen the bond between Polri and the community through real contributions in the health sector.
