The Buleleng Regency Government has begun finalising preparations ahead of the implementation of the 2026 School Children Immunization Month (BIAS). This initial step was marked by a cross-sector coordination meeting held by the Buleleng Regency Health Office at the local health office hall on Wednesday (22/7/2026). This strategic meeting was attended by various stakeholders, including sub-district representatives such as the Head of the Social and Cultural Section of Busungbiu Sub-district, Putu Aryasa, as well as Sub-district Heads and Community Health Center (Puskesmas) Heads across Buleleng Regency.
In his direction during the opening of the meeting, the Head of the Buleleng Regency Health Office, accompanied by the Head of the Public Health Division, emphasized that the success of this national immunization program heavily relies on active collaboration and solid synergy between agencies. Cross-sector involvement is considered crucial at every stage, starting from meticulous planning, public communication and outreach, field execution, to post-activity monitoring and evaluation.
The BIAS program itself is a routine national immunization agenda targeting students of Elementary Schools (SD), Islamic Elementary Schools (MI), or equivalent institutions periodically every August and November. The administration of this booster immunization is focused on strengthening herd immunity within the school environment. This preventive measure is deemed vital to prevent the potential occurrence of Extraordinary Events (KLB / disease outbreaks) due to vaccine-preventable diseases.
In addition to providing long-term health protection for students, the BIAS program also offers convenience for parents as all immunization services are provided free of charge and conducted directly at schools by local health center officers. Through this strengthened coordination, the Buleleng Regency Government hopes that all healthcare facilities and educational units can work together optimally to achieve safe, orderly, and comprehensive immunization coverage targets.
