The Central Board of the Indonesian Trail Running Association (PP ALTI) has officially dispatched its 27 best athletes to compete in the Southeast Asian Trail Running Championship (SEATRC) 2026. This prestigious regional-level competition is scheduled to take place from July 24 to 26, 2026, in the iconic mountainous region of Mount Gede Pangrango, West Java.
All selected athletes are the product of structured development from the grassroots level managed by the ALTI Provincial Boards (Pengprov). The regions contributing these talents include DKI Jakarta, West Java, East Java, Banten, East Kalimantan, South Sulawesi, and Central Sulawesi.
The General Chairperson of PP ALTI, Bima Arya Sugiarto, expressed high optimism regarding the performance of the Red and White contingent. According to him, a deep understanding of the characteristics of the terrain and trails on Mount Gede Pangrango is a distinct advantage for the national athletes to record their best times and achieve maximum success.
In addition to targeting the top podium finishes, Bima also emphasized the importance of safety aspects throughout the race. PP ALTI hopes this international event will run smoothly, safely, and without significant obstacles, while also strengthening Indonesia's reputation as a host for global-scale outdoor sports events in the future.
Echoing this sentiment, the Chef de Mission of the Indonesian National Trail Running Team, Donny Gahral Adian, confirmed that all athletes are currently in peak physical condition near the race location. Indonesia will compete in several race categories, including the vertical (7 km), mountain classic (10 km), short (42 km), and the longest endurance event, the long (72 km).
The efforts of these sports patriots also received full support from the Central National Sports Committee of Indonesia (KONI). Through publication collaboration with various national sports media partners, Central KONI is committed to promoting the achievements of Indonesian trail running so that it gains more appreciation among the wider public.
