The Indonesian Domino Sports Association (PORDI) of South Halmahera Regency made history by successfully organizing the Saruma Domino Open Tournament for the first time. Utilizing official regulatory standards from PORDI, the competition was held in the MSME area of Tembal Village, Bacan District, over three days, from Friday (6/7/2026) to Sunday (8/7/2026).

Public enthusiasm for dominoes as a sport was quite high, with 150 participating pairs from various backgrounds. The tournament also received special attention with the attendance of PORDI officials from North Maluku Province and representatives from PORDI Ternate City, who provided direct support.

The Committee Chairman, Darmin Hasyim, emphasized that the event focused on creating a healthy competitive space for domino enthusiasts. According to him, the main goal of the tournament was not merely to win the championship title, but to strengthen ties of friendship and instill high values of sportsmanship within the community.

With dominoes now recognized as an official sport, South Halmahera PORDI is optimistic that this event will act as a catalyst for the development of local athletes. It is hoped that similar agendas will continue in order to nurture talented domino athletes capable of bringing pride to the region in the future.

At the end of the event series, the committee expressed its highest appreciation to the participants and the community for their active participation. The success of this inaugural tournament serves as a key foundation for South Halmahera PORDI to continue promoting the sport of dominoes more professionally.
