The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes), through the Health Crisis Center, responded quickly to the emergency situation caused by a fire at the Jatiwaringin Final Disposal Site (TPA) in Tangerang Regency. Since Friday (3/7), the government has mobilized medical logistical aid to the location to anticipate health issues among residents due to exposure to thick smoke.
Head of the Health Crisis Center at Kemenkes, Agus Jamaludin, stated that this aid represents the government's commitment to maintaining healthcare access for people exposed to air pollution. In addition to logistical distribution, Kemenkes also established temporary health facilities to ensure medical services run effectively in the affected area.
The distributed aid includes crucial equipment such as 15 oxygen concentrator units, 6 oximeter units, 3 air purifier units, 11,500 medical masks, and 5,000 gloves. To support field operations, Kemenkes has also deployed a large hospital tent, which is now operational at the community gathering point.
Agus added that the placement of these facilities was the result of intensive coordination with the Tangerang Regency Health Office and local community health centers (puskesmas). This decision was made after considering the considerable distance between residential areas and permanent health facilities, as well as the high health risks posed by the smoke plumes still enveloping the area.
To date, the emergency health post has been activated 24 hours a day. Kemenkes is committed to continuously monitoring developments on the ground and ensuring all medical needs of the community are met during the emergency response period.
