Welcoming the arrival of the month of Muharram 1448 Hijriah, the National Amil Zakat Institution (LAZNAS) Baitul Maal Hidayatullah (BMH) East Java has reaffirmed its commitment to social care. On Sunday (5/7/2026), BMH held a free health service action and distributed family logistic packages for the elderly in BMH's Foster Village, Keputih Tegal Timur Baru, Surabaya.
The event, which took place in a warm family atmosphere, focused on reaching vulnerable communities. In addition to undergoing basic physical examinations, the elderly also received independent health education, which is crucial for senior citizens. The distributed logistic packages served to complement and meet the daily needs of the beneficiaries.
One of the beneficiaries, Samina, expressed her deep gratitude for the attention given by BMH and the donors. According to her, this assistance is highly meaningful in helping to ease the burden of meeting daily basic needs.
The Head of the Program and Empowerment Division of BMH East Java, Imam Muslim, emphasized that the momentum of the month of Muharram is the right time to expand the reach of benefits. "Through the Blessed Muharram Program, we want to bring real benefits to the basic needs of the community. We hope this early health detection and logistical assistance can support the welfare of the elderly while fostering a spirit of mutual cooperation in the community," he said.
