The Jember Regency Government (Pemkab) through the Infrastructure and Spatial Planning Task Force has taken decisive action to regulate mining activities in the Mount Sadeng area, Puger District. In a sudden inspection held on Thursday (9/7/2026), the task force team found indications of massive administrative and legal violations in the field.
Data collection results show that out of a total of 21 companies operating in the area, only seven hold official permits. The remaining 14 companies were proven to lack complete permits or have expired operational permits yet continue to conduct exploration activities.
In addition to legality issues, the task force also highlighted arrears in Non-Metallic Mineral and Rock (MBLB) taxes, which burden the Regional Original Income (PAD). It was recorded that accumulated tax arrears from January to June 2026 reached a fantastic figure of IDR 1.6 billion. PT Imasco Tambang Raya was recorded as having the largest arrears at IDR 900 million, followed by PT Pertama Mina Sutra Perkasa with a value of IDR 495 million.
Task Force representative, Yudho, emphasized that companies whose permits have expired are strictly prohibited from continuing mining activities. His party is currently coordinating with the relevant Technical Implementation Unit (UPT) to take further legal steps. Regarding PT Pertama Mina Sutra Perkasa, whose permit expired in June 2025, the company claimed it is currently in the process of applying for a new permit under suspended status.
Beyond administrative aspects, the team also conducted direct field inspections to ensure that company activities do not violate spatial planning regulations or trigger environmental damage in the Mount Sadeng area. The Jember Regency Government is committed to continuing to increase supervision in order to boost business compliance and secure regional tax revenue targets.
