JAKARTA – Amid dynamic global economic fluctuations, PT Bank Syariah Indonesia Tbk (BSI) recorded a significant performance surge in its gold business sector. Through a strategic collaboration with the Daya Anagata Nusantara Investment Management Agency (Danantara), the number of BSI's bullion service customers soared by 700 percent year-on-year (YoY) to surpass 1.3 million customers as of June 2026.

This partnership has not only boosted customer numbers but also multiplied fee-based income (FBI) from the gold business by 712 percent YoY. During the first half of this year, BSI successfully traded a total of 8.06 tons of gold, further strengthening its position as the country's first bullion bank, supported by an optimal state investment ecosystem.

High public interest in gold as a safe-haven asset preservation instrument is supported by the integration of BSI services, which include Gold Installments (Cicil Emas), Gold Pledges (Gadai Emas), and physical gold savings. Furthermore, digitalization through the BYOND by BSI application makes it easier for the public to start investing in gold in real-time starting from just Rp50,000 without having to visit a branch office.

In addition to strengthening digital penetration, this Islamic banking issuer is also expanding its physical network through the BSI Gold program, which is now available at various official partner gold outlets. BSI's Finance & Strategy Director, Ade Cahyo Nugroho, explained that amid current market uncertainty, people tend to be more selective and prioritize gold as a primary option to maintain long-term financial resilience.

By mid-2026, the total outstanding from BSI's gold pledge sector reached Rp30.5 trillion, growing by 80.50 percent. The cumulative contribution of all these gold business lines successfully contributed fee-based income of Rp2.10 trillion as of July 2026, doubling compared to the same period in the previous year.
