The GAIKINDO Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2026 became the stage for iCAR Indonesia to introduce its latest electric SUV, the iCAR V27. To address consumer anxiety regarding the driving range limitations of pure electric vehicles, iCAR has equipped this rugged vehicle with the innovative Golden REEV (Range-Extended Electric Vehicle) technology, which is claimed to be capable of covering a distance of up to 1,200 kilometers.
The Golden REEV technology in the iCAR V27 works differently from conventional hybrid engines. This system relies on a 1.5L Turbo Range Extender engine that is not directly connected to the vehicle's wheels, but instead serves solely as a generator to charge the battery. Meanwhile, the vehicle's wheels are fully driven by electric motors, so drivers still experience the quiet and instant driving performance characteristic of pure electric cars.
Based on CLTC testing, a 60-liter fuel tank combined with a fully charged battery is capable of taking this SUV over 1,200 km. Meanwhile, for daily urban mobility, the iCAR V27 can run in pure electric mode for up to 200 km without needing to activate the range extender engine. Additionally, charging the battery from 20 percent to 80 percent takes only about 30 minutes, thanks to the support of DC Fast Charging.
To support its toughness on various road terrains, the iCAR V27 is equipped with an advanced Hollow Cast Aluminum H-Arm suspension structure that is lightweight yet sturdy, as well as a Three-Motor True Electric AWD drive system that ensures optimal traction. Drivers can also choose from nine available driving modes, including special modes like Wade Mode to cross puddles up to 600 mm deep, supported by an automatic brake disc drying feature.
On paper, the performance of the iCAR V27 is impressive, with a maximum power output of 335 kW or equivalent to 455 PS and a peak torque of 505 Nm, allowing it to accelerate from a standstill to a speed of 100 km/h in just 5.9 seconds. For members of the public interested in seeing this technology in person and making early bookings, the iCAR V27 unit is on display in Hall 8 of ICE BSD City until August 9, 2026.
