The Provincial Government of South Kalimantan has officially inaugurated the board of administrators of the Indonesian Community Sports Committee (KORMI) of South Kalimantan Province for the 2026–2031 term. The inauguration ceremony, which took place in Banjarbaru on Saturday (11/7/2026) evening, marked a new chapter for the development of recreational sports in Banua, appointing the Regional Secretary of South Kalimantan Province, H. M. Syarifuddin, as General Chairman.
This inauguration was carried out directly by the General Chairman of National KORMI, Adil Hakim, based on Decree Number 015/SK/KORMINAS/VII/2026. In his mandate, the Governor of South Kalimantan, H. Muhidin, emphasized the important role of KORMI in transforming sports into a lifestyle for the wider community to create healthier and more competitive human resources.
H. M. Syarifuddin stated that the new leadership will prioritize a collaborative spirit themed "working together, embracing all". The organization's future strategic focus is not only limited to promoting sports at the local level, but also thorough preparations for the 2027 National Recreational Sports Festival (FORNAS) in Palu.
As a concrete step, KORMI South Kalimantan signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the local Tourism Office as well as the Education and Culture Office. The integration of this program is expected to incorporate various sports agendas into the regional *Calendar of Event*, thereby boosting *sport tourism* potential and attracting tourists to South Kalimantan.
The inauguration event was attended by several key figures, including the Secretary General of National KORMI, the South Kalimantan regional leadership coordination forum (Forkopimda), and representatives from all Sports Parent Organizations (INORGA) in the region. This cross-sector synergy is expected to be a catalyst for achieving a healthier, more active, and productive South Kalimantan society.
