The Ministry of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora) has officially established a strategic collaboration with Universitas Indonesia (UI) to strengthen the national sports ecosystem. This step was realized through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) regarding the plan to establish a Sports Management Study Program under the auspices of the UI Vocational School.
The signing of the agreement was carried out by the Minister of Youth and Sports Erick Thohir along with the Rector of UI Prof. Dr. Ir. Heri Hermansyah at the Vocational Auditorium of the UI Campus, Depok, on Friday (31/7). This new study program is specifically designed to produce competent human resources in the fields of sports organization governance, coaching, as well as sports business and industry development.
Minister Erick Thohir explained that this collaboration is a crucial platform for high-achieving athletes to improve their capacity. The program is expected to serve as a promising career bridge for athletes after they complete their service in the world of professional sports.
This step is also in line with the President's instructions to carry out a major transformation in the sports sector through adaptive leadership and systems. Through this cooperation, it is hoped that capable bureaucratic leaders and sports managers will emerge to support the growth of the country's sports industry.
On the same occasion, UI Rector Prof. Heri Hermansyah welcomed this synergy positively as part of the transformation of vocational education at UI. The university is committed to providing representative sports facilities, including athletics and badminton courts, to facilitate academic needs as well as the physical training of studying athletes.
