YOGYAKARTA - To anticipate various potential vulnerabilities and maintain conduciveness within their jurisdiction, the sectoral police (Polsek) forces in Yogyakarta City are tightening internal supervision. This preventive measure is carried out through routine checks on the security of the command headquarters (mako) and the health conditions of detainees inside the cells.
In the Wirobrajan area, intensive inspections are led directly by the on-duty personnel, who periodically monitor the cleanliness of the detention cells, the adequacy of facilities, and the physical health of the detainees. This effort is also aligned with community visit activities by the Bhabinkamtibmas (Community Policing Officer) of Patangpuluhan Sub-district, who actively monitors the public order and security situation in the community.
Similar measures are also implemented by the Gondokusuman Police. Personnel under the coordination of the Community Development (Binmas) unit not only focus on the internal security of the station but also strengthen territorial patrols to ensure all detention rooms are secure and free from prohibited items.
The police emphasized that these periodic checks are a standard operating procedure (SOP) that must be consistently implemented. Besides preventing sabotage or escape attempts, this activity also aims to ensure that the basic rights of detainees, particularly healthcare services, remain well-fulfilled.
