Digital transformation in tax administration is no longer just about the sophistication of the backend system, but about how users directly experience it. The Directorate General of Taxes (DGT) realizes that the success of the Coretax system highly depends on ease of access, speed of service, and navigational comfort for taxpayers.
As part of the 2025–2029 Strategic Plan, modernizing the user interface (UI) and user experience (UX) is a top priority. This step is not merely an aesthetic touch-up, but a strategic effort to ensure that complex technological infrastructure can be operated simply and intuitively by anyone.
This development was driven by public feedback regarding navigation that needed improvement, as well as the need for a more responsive interface on mobile devices. By adopting user-centered design principles, DGT aims to simplify service workflows so users can find the features they need without having to understand the bureaucratic structure behind the system.
Several technical updates have been implemented, such as strengthening visual hierarchy, introducing a global search feature, and utilizing a more structured mega menu. Additionally, the system is now designed to adapt to various screen sizes, from desktop computers to smartphones, ensuring a consistent user experience.
This in-house development approach allows DGT to continuously conduct ongoing evaluations based on user feedback. Thus, Coretax is expected to keep evolving into a reliable system, not only in terms of infrastructure resilience, but also in terms of access convenience for all Indonesian citizens.
