Vice Minister of Communication and Digital, Nezar Patria, stated that a country's superiority is no longer determined simply by physical infrastructure, but rather by the depth of its innovation capacity and digital talent.
In his official statement, Nezar highlighted the need for a paradigm shift for Indonesia. The nation is expected to no longer be trapped merely as a technology consumer, but rather to transform into an active contributor producing its own innovations. This step is considered vital for Indonesia to secure a stronger bargaining position in the highly dynamic international technology supply chain.
Facing the rapid development of artificial intelligence (AI) and computing infrastructure, the government has begun integrating strategic approaches through cross-sector collaboration. Universities are now positioned at the forefront of the national innovation ecosystem. One concrete implementation being promoted is the AI Talent Factory initiative targeting campuses across various regions, from Java to other areas.
Furthermore, Nezar asserted that talent development must not be limited to technical skills alone. A deep understanding of technological geopolitics and the evolution of the digital economy is also required. This holistic approach is expected to produce digital talent who are not only technically proficient, but also broad-minded and adaptive in facing the constantly changing global challenges.
